Elantris is Sanderson's first book. Christmas is almost here, and I have a present that should warm you up! It is a review of one of my favorite reads of this past summer. It has a blurb from Orson Scott Card on its cover, to the gist that this is the finest fantasy in who knows long to catch Card's notice. Why must you force me into conflict with the library, my favorite supplier? So, here's my official answer: One of the things I really wanted to do with ELANTRIS was make it a stand alone. Elantris is Brandon Sanderon's debut fantasy novel. A lot of people loved ELANTRIS, and want to know when/if I'll be writing a sequel. He wrote: the Mistborn Trilogy (which I'll most likely review very soon), Warbreaker (his most recent novel which I will also review shortly) and his debut novel, back in 2005, Elantris. I agree with what he's said in the post, by the way. A stand alone, a story that could be told in the space of one novel. They claim I owe them something, and they aren't going to leave me alone. Oh, Elantris, why must you torture me so? As Sanderson explained on his blog, he wanted the book to be a one-off. As part of my summer reading, I recently finished Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. €Elantris: gigantic, beautiful, literally radiant, filled with benevolent beings who used their powerful magical abilities to benefit all the people of Arelon. Elantris was Sanderson's first published novel.
